National Chairman's Letter
August 2000
Dear Members and Friends of the Independent American Party,
The battle lines for the 2000 presidential/vice presidential race are now
drawn. The voters have Howard Phillips and Curtis Frazier for the Independent
Americans and Constitutionalists, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for the Republicans,
Al Gore and Joe Lieberman for the Democrats, Ralph Nader and Winona Duke for the
Greens, Pat Buchanan and Ezola Foster for the Reforms, John Hagelin and Nat
Goldhaber for the Natural Lawists and alternate Reforms, Harry Brown and Art Oliver
for the Libertarians, and Earl Dodge and Arthur Watkins for the Prohibitionists.
We are proud to have Howard Phillips and Curt Frazier at the head of our
Independent American Party ticket. And we are proud of our association with Earl
Dodge of the Prohibition Party. Both Howard and Earl sought the IAP nomination,
both ran in the Utah IAP Presidential Primary in March, both are friends to the Independent American Party, and both are members of our National Advisory Board.
We are honored by their association. This nation would be greatly blessed if
either one were elected President of the United States.
It was sad to watch the split in the Reform Party at their National
Convention in Long Beach, California this month. We have many friends who are
members of that party, who are dedicated to the cause of America's freedom and
future. Supposedly the split came about because of alleged voter fraud during
the party's national primary procedure. But it appeared obvious to many
observers that the split came about because of ideological differences -- the
differences in views on social issues between Pat Buchanan and Ross Perot.
The Independent American Party is fortunate to have a Mission and Principles
that reflect our views on social as well as government and Constitutional
issues. All IAP members and candidates are expected to abide by them. Our
National IAP Constitution (Article II - Object, Section A - Mission) states:
Our mission is to promote
respect for life liberty and property; strong traditional families; patriotism;
and individual, state and national sovereignty -- with a strong reliance on the
Declaration of Independence and allegiance to the Constitution for the United States of America -- by petition to God and by political and educational means.
Our IAP Constitution (Article II, Section B - Candidates) also states: The
function of the IAP is to find, nominate, assist and support candidates for
President and Vice President of the United States, who are wise, moral and
honest, and who will uphold and defend the Constitution for the United States.
These candidates shall adhere to the Mission, Principles and Platform of the IAP.
We feel our candidates are well qualified and fit the bill!
Yours for Freedom!
