National Chairman's Letter
October 2000
Dear Members and Friends of the Independent American Party,
The General Election is close and the 2000 campaign is nearly over. We
watched the Bush/Gore debates and the Cheney/Lieberman debate. We were
disappointed that the third party candidates were excluded from the debates. The
two "established" parties and the establishment media will do whatever
necessary to prevent another party from coming to the fore. But whatever
the results on November 7th, we will continue our efforts for freedom and seek
ways to overcome the two major parties and major media. With God's help, we will
succeed!
Howard Phillips of Virginia and Dr. Curtis Frazier of Missouri are our
Independent American Party Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees,
respectively. They are also the nominees of the Constitution Party. They
continue to campaign actively despite minimal media coverage and low standings
in public opinion polls. They will be on the ballot in about 40 states and are
qualified write-ins in several other states. In most states, they will be listed
on the Constitution Party ticket. A number of articles, speeches and interviews
by Howard and two by Curtis appear on our www.usiap.org web site (just click the
Candidates navigation button).
One of our Utah candidates, Jeremy Friedbaum, who is running for Governor,
protested his exclusion from a dozen media debates between the Democratic and
Republican Gubernatorial candidates. He went on a hunger strike (or fast) for 39
days, and was consequently interviewed by a number of newspapers, and radio and
television stations. He received more media attention from the fast than any
other third party candidate in Utah, and was even mentioned in the New York
Times. Maybe this was an extreme measure, but he was noticed, and he was finally
invited into a non-media debate with his two opponents. Several of Jeremy's news
releases and articles appear on our web site (just click the States navigation
button, then click on Utah).
On November 7th, Americans have the rare privilege of voting in a totally
free democratic election. Unfortunately, the likely outcome has been stacked by
manipulations of the major parties and the major media. Still, we have the
choice of voting our conscience, voting for the lesser of two evils, or not
voting at all. Voter apathy is caused by disillusionment with politics, the
feeling of helplessness to do anything about it, indifference and ignorance. Our
freedom is a gift from God! and the right to vote is part of that gift. God
expects us to use the gifts that he has given us and in a rightful manner. The
conscientious voter studies the issues and candidates, and even prays, in an
effort to elect good, honest and wise men to office. Even if our ballot choices
don't prevail, may we someday be able to stand before God and report we did all
we could for freedom and voted for the best candidates that would uphold it!
Yours for Freedom!
