National Chairman's Letter
April 2001
Dear Members and Friends of the Independent American Party,
Last month I made an appeal for "contact persons" to serve in
various states where we have no organization. Consequently, we now have official
contact persons in Arizona, Florida, Wyoming, Texas and Hawaii. These are in
addition to Utah (where we have a fully organized party), Nevada and Kentucky
(where we have a close relationship with two unaffiliated parties), and New York
where we have had a contact person for several months. If you live in any of
these states, I encourage you to make contact with our representative or
organization there; help establish a dialogue between interested members; and
help build the state organization.
Contact information is on the Home and States pages of our www.usiap.org web
site. And if you live in another state, we are looking for more contact persons.
You can reach us by email at contact@usiap.org or you may write us at 793
W. Green Oaks Dr., Murray, UT 84123.
We are also looking for individuals to serve on our various national
committees. The IAP has five standing committees at the national level: Rules,
Events, Membership, Issues, and Media. If you have special talents or interests,
and the inclination to serve, we welcome your input and participation. Most of
the activity will be by email and postal correspondence. I'm sure many of you
have a knack for legalize, event planning, recruiting, organizing, platform
writing, article writing, speaking, web site content or design, publication
planning, and/or such.
The Rules Committee develops proposed changes to the IAP Constitution
and Bylaws; helps state organizations develop state constitutions and bylaws;
and develops procedural rules for the Executive Committee, National Committee
and National Convention.
The Events Committee plans our National Committee and National
Convention meetings; coordinates ballot qualification efforts in various states;
assists candidates in their campaigns; and plans and coordinates fund raising
efforts.
The Membership Committee coordinates recruitment of individual members
and state parties; maintains communication and liaison between state parties and
the general membership; and assists state parties in recruiting members.
The Issues Committee develops proposed changes to our IAP Principles
and Platform; conducts research and writing on national issues; maintains a
speakers bureau; assists state parties with voter education; and assists
national and state candidates with national issues. We have our National
Principles, but have yet to develop a written Platform
The Media Committee conducts public relations; maintains positive
relations with the news media; oversees the IAP web site and publications;
designs and provides IAP flyers, pamphlets, paraphernalia and other advertizing;
and assists state parties with public relations. We have our national web site,
but do not yet have a printed publication.
Yours for Freedom!
Bruce Bangerter
