National Chairman's Letter
On Property
September 2002
Dear Members and Friends of the Independent American Party,
Our IAP National Mission statement includes the phrase, "to promote
... property;" and the third point of our National Principles states, "We
believe the proper functions of government include the duty to: ... Protect the
right and control of private property; ...."
James Madison said: "Government is instituted to protect property of
every sort .... This being the end of government, that alone is a just
government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.
Thomas Jefferson: The moment the idea is admitted into society that property
is not as sacred as the law of God ... Anarchy and tyranny commence. Property
must be secured or liberty cannot exist."
On the other hand:
• The first plank of Karl
Marx's Communist Manifesto calls for the abolition of Private Property and
the application of all rent to the public purpose. We see the fulfilling of
this in part through Bureau of Land Management policies and UN bio-preserves in
America. The federal government owns 28% of the land in America.
• The 2nd plank of the Communist
Manifesto: A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. This was
implemented in the United States in 1913 by the supposed ratification of the
16th (or Income Tax) Amendment. This was foisted on a gullible American public
with "soak the rich" hype.
The resultant federal income tax has not only stripped us of our wealth, but
an aggressive IRS has violated our Fourth Amendment rights to privacy in our
homes, businesses, personal papers and personal affairs.
The tax bite in 1932 was 16%. Today half of our earnings go to federal, state
and local taxes. And federal government spending continues to increase an
average of 7% per year. As Daniel Webster said, "An unlimited power to tax,
necessarily involves the power to destroy."
• The 3rd plank of the Communist
Manifesto: Abolition of all rights of inheritance. The US Inheritance Tax
was established in 1916. This death tax and probate often take more than half of
one's assets.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 4: Confiscation
of the property of all emigrants and rebels. This might be likened to the
"rebels" of today who oppose government policies and actions, and are
prosecuted on violations of non-existing administrative or regulatory laws.
Drug-forfeiture laws have been used against the innocent.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 5: Centralization
of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State
capital and an exclusive monopoly. This was implemented by the insidious
Federal Reserve Act of 1913.
The resultant Federal Reserve System, a private banking monopoly that is not
part of the federal government, has made it possible for men to arbitrarily
change the value of money through inflation. It has the power to create money,
then loan it to our government at interest -- hence, our $6 trillion national
debt. This, in spite of the fact that our Constitution (Article I, Section 8)
grants only to Congress the power "To coin money, regulate the value
thereof, ...."
Thomas Jefferson said: "If the American people ever allow private banks
to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks], will deprive
the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the
continent their fathers conquered."
• Communist Manifesto, plank 6: Centralization
of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the state.
So much for free enterprise in these areas.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 7: Extension
of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into
cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in
accordance with the common plan. Government competes against private
business and interferes with the free enterprise system. Private land use is
restricted under the guise of environmental protection. Farmers are controlled
in their activities in exchange for farm subsidies.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 8: Equal
liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for
agriculture. Business owners are restricted in who they can hire or fire
through Affirmative Action, hiring quotas, and labor and civil rights
legislation.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 9: Combination
of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the
distinction between town and country by a more equitable distribution of the
population over the country. So much for small farms and businesses.
• Communist Manifesto, plank 10: Free
education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory
labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Our taxes pay for government (public) schools but not private schools.
The Independent American Party stands for allegiance to the Constitution for the United States and eschewal of the Communist Manifesto. We call for an end to
government interference in our "pursuit of happiness," abolishment of
the IRS and Federal Reserve, and repeal of the 16th Amendment.
Yours for Freedom!
