National Chairman's Letter

Platform - Preamble

March 2003

Dear Independent American friends,

Our IAP National Mission is a brief one-paragraph statement. Our National Principles is a two-page sheet that expands on some of our Mission points. Our National Platform is a 15-page document that amplifies the points in our Mission and Principles as well as some other areas. These were written to provide a balance and an overview of our political beliefs. However, they do not discuss the issues in great detail. We rely upon the various commentary and viewpoint articles on our www.usiap.org web site to provide a fourth level of magnification of our beliefs.

Following is my commentary on the Preamble section of our Independent American National Platform. Like most platform preambles, ours reflects the reasons and intent of our Platform. It also comprises statements of homage, concern, hope, and our IAP purpose.

First we revere or honor our God, our Constitution, other founding documents, and our founding fathers. We assert our rights, liberty, independence and responsibilities. Our Mission and Principles affirm these points, as does the Christian Heritage, Unalienable Rights and U.S. Constitution sections of our Platform. The section begins:

PREAMBLE

We affirm that the foundations of our country were spiritual: We testify that the Constitution for the United States of America was established as an inspired ensign and standard of liberty for all. It is the only constitution based foremost upon the rights and liberties of a free and independent people who are superior to government, having government as their servant rather than as their master. We revere the founding documents of America, honor the men who framed them, and ascribe all honor and glory to the God who inspired them. We claim, second to worshiping God, that our greatest responsibility as Americans is vigilance in protecting our God-given Constitution and rights, both for ourselves and our posterity.

Next we recognize that our nation is in a state of crisis. We express our concern for our Constitution, our rights, our public institutions, our sovereignty, our heritage, and the family.

We assert that we are in a Constitutional crisis. The major provisions of the Constitution are being compromised and our God-given rights are being intruded upon or eliminated at an alarming rate. Our educational, economic, social, and political institutions are becoming more perverted. The rights and nature of our national sovereignty, Judeo-Christian heritage, and traditional family, are under escalating attack. We solemnly declare that our Constitution, liberties, and national sovereignty currently hang by a thread. We assert that institutionalized corruption and the loss of our rights and liberties are unconstitutional, unacceptable and inexcusable.

Here we express hope for our nation, a reliance upon the American people that they will stand united and vigilant, and that America will emerge from the crisis.

We claim that our Constitutional Republic can still be fully restored by lawful means, but only to the extent that We The People stand united and vigilant, as never before, in the cause of freedom. "The people [not government]... are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty." – Thomas Jefferson

From here on, we declare some of the purposes of the IAP through 12 bulleted points. The first four points focus on our purpose with respect to our Constitution, rights, liberties, sovereignty and independence. The Unalienable Rights, U.S. Constitution and U.S. Sovereignty sections of our Platform expound on these further.

Purpose of the Independent American Party

* To uphold and revere our Constitution in the tradition of our founding fathers as the only and supreme law of this land.

* To restore our Constitutional Republic, restore Constitutional Law, and restore all rights, liberties, and properties rightfully belonging to the people and to the states.

* To identify and reverse legislation, case law, regulations, and treaties, etc., that are unconstitutional or an offense to God and our founding fathers.

* To permanently restore American sovereignty and independence from foreign entanglements, and mandates.

The next four points touch on the proper role of and limits on government, taxation, rights, citizenship, families, and our religious heritage. The Christian Heritage, Family, Citizenship, Economy and Government sections of our Platform expound on these.

* To return the control of government back to the people as intended.

* To greatly minimize taxes, and to limit the size, power, and function of government to the intended constraints established within the original Constitution and Bill of Rights.

* To advance the principles of freedom, patriotism, and traditional family values.

* To preserve and honor our Judeo-Christian heritage, and the rights of all religions.

The last four points express Constitutional vigilance, government reform, redress of grievances, and political cooperation and efforts. As a political party, we are reaching out to other like-minded parties and organizations for a united effort for our nation.

* To identify and defeat all efforts to undermine and overthrow the Constitution, by those in government and by those operating behind the scenes.

* To promote at all levels in government, superior ethics, integrity and accountability.

* To restore fair and responsible redress of grievances, as allowed for in the Constitution.

* To unite the independent votes, the silent majority, grassroots organizations, and other patriots and lovers of liberty under one umbrella; and, while keeping our separate identities, to stand united in reflecting the sovereignty of the people.

These may not include all the purposes of our party, but they touch on the key ones and reflect the Independent American spirit of our party. We feel that we have a balanced platform that represents the whole keyboard of crucial and important issues that are essential to the restoration and preservation of our heritage, our freedoms and our way of life. Our Independent American challenge to the American people is: Learn, understand, embrace and promote the principles of the IAP National Platform for the sake and future of our country, ourselves, and our posterity!

For God, Family and Country!
