National Chairman's Letter
Strategy 2004
April 2004
Dear Independent American friends,
May I present to you our twin strategy for the 2004 elections: Educational
and Political! We will continue in our educational efforts to promote our
national Mission, Principles and Platform through our web site and other means.
However, on the political side, we will take an unorthodox approach as a
political party. This is necessitated in part by the fact that we do not have
ballot status in any state. But it is also in line with our IAP philosophy of
placing the spirit of freedom and America first over the spirit of party.
Thus, the national Executive Committee of the Independent American Party has
recommended the following:
1) That we endorse and promote an acceptable presidential candidate of
another party or an independent.
2) That we endorse and promote all acceptable IAP candidates of our own
who are running on other parties or as independents.
3) That we invite our IAP members and friends to recommend non-IAP
candidates for federal, state and local offices for consideration for
endorsement and promotion by the IAP.
4) That we encourage our members and friends to cooperate with other
like-minded third parties (such as the Constitution and America First
parties) for the election, and to even consider dual-membership.
5) That we continue to actively advertise and recruit for membership in the IAP.
Ultimately it will be up to the National Committee at our next National
Conference to decide which candidates to endorse and promote. But we wish to
involve our general membership and friends in the process. First I would like to
take a two-question poll:
There are a number of very good men who would make excellent presidential
candidates but who are not running for president. Several come to mind (in
alphabetical order): Pat Buchanan of Virginia was the 2000 Reform Party
presidential nominee. Alan Keyes of Maryland was a 2000 Republican
presidential candidate. Roy Moore of Alabama was a judge who is famous
for standing up for the Ten Commandments. Ron Paul of
Texas is a U.S. Congressman. Howard Phillips of Virginia was
the 2000 IAP and Constitution Party presidential nominees.
So the first question of the poll is: Which non-candidate do you favor for
honorary mention for President of the United States? (A) Pat Buchanan, (B) Alan
Keyes, (C) Roy Moore, (D) Ron Paul, (E) Howard Phillips, (F) Write-in
[please give name]. You may list your 1st, 2nd and 3rd place choices.
There are a number of candidates running for president under various third
parties and/or as independents. A few of those candidates, who are running under
(IAP) like-minded parties, come to mind (again in alphabetical order): Gene
Admondson of Alaska and Earl Dodge of Colorado, nominees of the
Prohibition Party. (Note: There has been a split in that party, with each
claiming its own nominee.) Michael Peroutka, likely nominee of the
Constitution Party. Diane Templin, nominee of the American Party. The
America First Party is not running a presidential candidate this year. I will
also include in the poll the three front-runner candidates in the race, namely George
Bush (President), John Kerry (U.S. Senator), and Ralph Nader (independent,
unaffiliated with any party).
So the second question of the poll is: Which candidate do you favor for
the IAP to endorse for President of the United States? (A) Gene Admondson -
Prohibition, (B) George Bush - Republican, (C) Earl Dodge - Prohibition, (D)
John Kerry - Democrat, (E) Ralph Nader - independent, (F) Michael Peroutka -
Constitution, (G) Diane Templin - American, (H) Write-in [please give name].
You may list your 1st, 2nd and 3rd place choices.
Please email your preferences to contact@usiap.org (or bbcorp@ix.netcom.com),
or mail them via post to: Independent American Party, 793 W. Greenoaks Drive,
Murray, UT 84123. The poll will close on May 15. The results will be
published on our www.usiap.org web site, and will be presented to the
National Committee for consideration before they vote to endorse a presidential
candidate for the IAP.
My next item is to invite and encourage all of you to submit names of good
IAP and non-IAP candidates who are running for federal, state and local offices,
who you feel we ought to endorse and promote on our web site. The candidates
should be of good character, and their views should be in line with our national
Mission, Principles and Platform. Please provide for each candidate a biography,
synopsis of his/her stands on the issues, contact information, and web site. We
will accept recommendations up to July 1, then prepare them for consideration by
the National Committee at our National Conference. Please use the same email or
postal addresses above.
Our next National Conference is scheduled for Friday & Saturday, July
16-17, in Salt Lake City, Utah. On Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will be
general committee sessions. Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. will be a barbecue
social. Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. will be our National Committee
business meeting. Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. will be a Candidate Forum, at
which the National Committee will vote on which candidates to endorse. Details
of the National Conference will be posted on our Events page at www.usiap.org/Events/EventsIndex.html.
Finally, I encourage you to work with the Constitution Party and/or America
First Party, possibly consider dual membership and become delegates at their
conventions, and help their candidates and other worthy candidates for public
office in their campaign efforts. And I ask you to continue to promote our IAP
Mission, Principles and Platform, and continue to promote and build our
Independent American Party.
For God, Family and Country!
