National Chairman's Letter

Peroutka & IAP Platform

September 2004

Dear Independent American friends,

Whereas the Independent American Party (at its National Conference last July) endorsed Michael A. Peroutka and Chuck Baldwin for President and Vice President of the United States, I wish to take this opportunity to relate some of Mr. Peroutka's statements gleaned from his web site with the twelve major section headings of our IAP National Platform. Peroutka and Baldwin are the presidential and vice presidential nominees of the Constitution Party.

1. Mr. Peroutka on Christian Heritage: "The very first presupposition of American government is that there exists a Creator God, yet our taxpayer-funded schools teach our children that He either doesn’t exist or that they can’t mention His name. This attack against the right of the people to acknowledge God is disgraceful and it is un-American."

2. Mr. Peroutka on Family: "Strong families are the essential building blocks of a strong, moral and just community. But America’s families today are under constant attack by federally funded programs that are dangerous and unconstitutional. Government schools are drugging and "dumbing-down" our children making them dependent and compliant."

3. Mr. Peroutka on Citizenship: (No specific material was found on this topic.)

4. Mr. Peroutka on Unalienable Rights: "As President, I would do everything in my power to end the national disgrace of abortion, starting with a formal acknowledgment of the legal person-hood of every child from the moment of conception. I would appoint U.S. Attorneys – by recess appointment if necessary – who will enforce the Fifth Amendment requirement that no person be deprived of life without due process of law."

"I believe that the Second Amendment means what it says. If elected President, I will do everything within my power to ensure that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. ... It is no coincidence that those jurisdictions which have implemented significant gun control have become cesspools of crime – cesspools which now, sadly, try to blame their problems on freer low-crime pro-gun jurisdictions."

5. Mr. Peroutka on Education: "In the last 30 years, under both Democratic and Republican presidents, the U.S. Department of Education, following a globalist, United Nations plan, has spent trillions of your tax dollars drugging and ‘dumbing-down’ your children. Our public schools are a cesspool of politically correct, condom dispensing, sodomy promoting sewage that calls itself education. As their failed approach continues to bring more and more disgraceful and disappointing results, they cry louder and louder for more funding to fix the failure."

6. Mr. Peroutka on Economy (~ specifically Taxation): "As President, I would work to repeal the Sixteenth Amendment, abolish the IRS, eliminate the income tax and other Godless forms of taxation such as the property tax and the inheritance tax. As President, I would go back to the original design of the Founders, which was to sustain the legitimate role of the Federal government through excises, imposts, duties, and apportionment among the states."

7. Mr. Peroutka on Society (~ specifically Entitlement Programs): "Bush’s Medicare drug for seniors program is the greatest expansion of a Federal entitlement program since Medicare became law in 1965 under President Lyndon Johnson. But, even these costs of Bush’s program that I’ve mentioned are probably grossly underestimated. When Medicare first passed in 1965, the estimated annual cost was $10 billion a year; now it’s $244 billion a year. In any event, regardless of the true cost of this new Bush entitlement program, it’s unconstitutional."

8. Mr. Peroutka on Natural Resources: (No specific material was found on this topic.)

9. Mr. Peroutka on U.S. Constitution: "One of the key issues in this year’s national election is: Which party, which candidates, are Constitutionalists? Which party, which candidates really believe in our Constitution and will say, explicitly, that they believe the Federal Government should do nothing that is not specifically authorized by the Constitution."

10. Mr. Peroutka on Government: "If the President and Congress obeyed our Constitution it would result in the largest tax cut in history. And that bigger Big Government elephant in our living room would shrink so much in size you might mistake him for a mouse."

11. Mr. Peroutka on Defense: "Don't get me wrong, I am all for a strong American military to help me protect and defend the Constitution and these United States, but I will use our military only for Constitutional aims, namely to repel the invasion at our Southern Border and to execute the constitutional Laws of the Union. I will not, however, violate the Constitution and the Law of God by permitting the use of drafted men to achieve the imperialistic goal of Pax Americana."

"... President Bush, using our military, has gone abroad and destroyed the monster Saddam Hussein who posed no threat to the vital national security interests of our country. The result: We are bogged down in a bloody and expensive mess with no end in sight. If elected President, however, I would move immediately to end our involvement in Iraq. I am not one who believes that when you are in a hole you should not be in, you should keep digging."

12. Mr. Peroutka on U.S. Sovereignty (~ particularly Global Government): "America needs and deserves a President who will stand against the entrenched socialism, elitism and globalism which have a stranglehold on American political power. It is clear that both major parties are committed to the agenda of the New World Order and seek to enforce economic, military and social policies which are antithetical to the interests of our independent Republic. Michael Anthony Peroutka ... will fight to defend America against enemies domestic and foreign and return to a Republic of self-governing states whose laws are rooted in Biblical principles."

Mr. Peroutka seems mostly in line with our IAP beliefs. I encourage you to go to his web site at www.Peroutka2004.com for his full statements on the issues and to view our IAP National Platform at www.usiap.org/Beliefs/Platform.html .
