Conference HighLights
January 18-19, 2002
Salt Lake City, Utah
Our seventh National Conference featured Ken Bowers (Utah) and Grant Solomon (Arizona) as our featured
speakers. We also made headway on a National Platform.
Platform Committee
We met all day Friday in Platform Committee Session in a board room
at the Salt Lake County government offices in Salt Lake City,
Utah. We worked diligently on the Legacy and Family sections of
the proposed platform. We felt like (we thought) what the founding
fathers must of felt like when they drafted our freedom documents.
Evening Social
Friday evening we held a restaurant social at Frontier
Pies in Sandy (Salt Lake) Utah. We enjoyed dinner and visiting
with those who attended, and listened to impromptu talks by two of our
Saturday speakers.
Business Meeting
We met Saturday morning in the Salt Lake County Commission Chambers,
Salt Lake City, Utah. We alternately convened as the National
Committee and as the Platform Committee. We continued work on the
proposed platform, and adopted the Legacy and Family sections by the
National Committee. Other sections were deferred to future
National Conferences. We heard state reports from Arizona,
Minnesota, and Utah.
Freedom Forum
At Saturday mid-afternoon we held our Freedom Forum in the Salt Lake
County Commission Chambers. Ken Bowers, an
author, spoke on "The New Elites." Grant Solomon, our
Arizona State Chair, spoke on "Educating the Constitution."
Evening Forum
Saturday evening we had a light dinner at the Salt Lake County
government offices and heard additional speakers. Dan Hansen of
the IAP of Nevada, Utah IAP Chair Will Christensen, former US House
(Utah) candidate Mike Lehman, and former US Senate (Utah) candidate
Carlton Bowen all spoke.
Most of the addresses by our Conference speakers are published on
our web site.
