Changes made to the
Independent American Party
National PlatformThe following revisions were made to the National Platform of the Independent American Party by the National Committee, acting as the National Convention, during the National Committee business meeting held April 16, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Changes were made to Introduction, Preamble, (11) Defense, and (12) Sovereignty sections as follows:
INTRODUCTION
[Introductory point 11]
11. [Defense] We believe that a strong defense establishment is essential to the preservation of our nation; that America must not commit its military [
or firepower] to any international organization; and that no foreign military bases should be allowed on American soil.[Introductory point 12]
12. [U.S. Sovereignty] We believe that a sovereign America is necessary for us to maintain our freedom and way of life; that we must withdraw from all international agreements that diminish our [
independence] sovereignty; and that we must resist all efforts to draw us into a global government.
PREAMBLE
[1st subsection, 1st paragraph]
We affirm that the foundations of our country were spiritual: We testify that the Constitution for the United States of America was established as an inspired ensign and standard of liberty for all. It is the only constitution based foremost upon the rights and liberties of a free and independent people. [
who are superior to government, having government as their servant rather than as their master.] Our God-given rights are superior to government, placing government as the servant of the people and not their master. We revere the founding documents of America, honor the men who framed them, and ascribe all honor and glory to the God who inspired them. We claim, second to worshiping God, that our greatest responsibility as Americans is vigilance in protecting our God-given Constitution and rights, both for ourselves and our posterity.[1st subsection, 2nd paragraph]
We assert that we are in a Constitutional crisis. The major provisions of the Constitution are being compromised and our God-given rights are being intruded upon or eliminated at an alarming rate. [
Our] The original intent of our educational, economic, social, and political institutions are becoming [more] perverted. The rights and nature of our national sovereignty, Judeo-Christian heritage, and traditional family[,] values are under [escalating] attack. We solemnly declare that our Constitution, liberties, and national sovereignty currently hang by a thread. We assert that institutionalized corruption and the loss of our rights and liberties are unconstitutional, unacceptable and inexcusable.[1st subsection, 3rd paragraph]
The Founding Fathers established this nation as a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. We claim that our Constitutional Republic can still be fully restored by lawful means, but only to the extent that "We The People" stand united and vigilant, [
as never before,] in the cause of freedom.{insert paragraph break}
"The people [not government]... are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty." – Thomas Jefferson
[2nd subsection, 1st bullet point]
* To uphold and revere our Constitution in the tradition of our [
founding fathers] Founding Fathers as the only and supreme law of this land.[2nd subsection, 3rd bullet point]
* To identify and reverse legislation, case law, regulations, and treaties, etc., that are unconstitutional or an offense to God and our [
founding fathers] Founding Fathers.
11. DEFENSE
[Old 4th subsection, new 1st subsection]
{This subsection moved from the 4th subsection position within the Defense section:}
[
Foreign Wars] War and Conflicts[Old 2nd paragraph moved to 1st paragraph position within new 1st subsection]
[
We maintain that U.S. forces should not be sent anywhere unless our rights as a nation are threatened or seriously menaced. We favor Congressional approval for troop deployment and declaration of war.] The Constitution—the supreme law of the land—requires a Congressional declaration in order to make war. We maintain that without proper justification to Congress, U.S. forces should not be engaged in conflict unless our nation or its citizens are in danger.[Old 1st paragraph moved to 2nd paragraph position within new 1st subsection]
[
We honor the right of our U.S. forces to refuse] It is unconstitutional for U.S. military and law enforcement members to serve under the command of the United Nations or any other foreign entity[,]. [or refuse and they are justified in refusing to wear their uniforms or insignias.] We honor the[patriotic] right of our [U.S. forces] military and law enforcement [officers] personnel to refuse any order or command that conflicts with [the Constitution, or their sworn oath, duty, and allegiance to protect and defend America and her citizens.] their sworn oath and duty to protect and defend the Constitution.[Old 1st subsection moved to 2nd subsection position within Defense section]
Our Troops
[2nd paragraph of new 2nd subsection]
While asserting that our able-bodied men will voluntarily come to the aid of our country to protect her people and her liberties, or her allies, or her legitimate interests overseas, we oppose the draft for [
two] three reasons: (1) [Forced enlistment] Conscription runs contrary to being a citizen of a free country[;]. (2) Those who have access to the "right" connections are able to evade or otherwise receive preferential treatment with regard to duty. [and for] (3) For decades the draft has been abused[,] and American lives sacrificed[,] to accomplish U.N. and globalist agendas rather than to establish true freedom.[Old 2nd subsection moved to 3rd subsection position within Defense section]
Readiness
[1st paragraph of new 3rd subsection]
We favor military defense budgets, technology capabilities, supplies, storage, and manpower sufficient to fight multiple wars against multiple enemies for several consecutive years.
[We oppose any wasteful spending of military funds.] We support the withdrawal from any treaty or program that restricts full development and deployment of an effective and strategic state-of-the-art defense system for land, sea, air, or space. We oppose any wasteful spending of military funds, and the spending of those funds without a fair and open bidding process.[2nd paragraph of new 3rd subsection]
The militia of the United States of America is defined as "The People" by the Founding Fathers. We support the promotion of a well organized [
or] and regulated [militias] militia [(the right of the people themselves to keep and bear arms)] in every state and community[,]. A well organized and regulated militia [as] is a natural and needed defense against sudden[and inevitable invasions, and against those who would overthrow] invasion by those individuals who would seek to overthrow our nation or pervert our Constitution. The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of each individual to keep and bear arms. We oppose and consider as treason all efforts to [disarm our citizenry of personal firearms,] regulate the use of personal firearms or disarm our citizenry. [close] We oppose the closure of needed military bases,[disarm our missiles, and downsize and weaken] disarmament of missiles and downsizing of America's defense forces[,]. [since these efforts weaken our readiness, and guarantee our defeat.][Old 3rd subsection moved to 4th subsection position within Defense section]
National Security
[1st paragraph of new 4th subsection]
We are opposed to [
the current] anti-terrorist legislation[(the Office of Homeland Security and the USA Patriot Act), because of] which has resulted in the loss of personal [freedoms] freedom and civil rights[.], such as Homeland Security and the USA Patriot Acts. We oppose the use of military forces in local and state matters and the creation of a nationalized police state. We further oppose [federal] usurpation of authority by any federal agency with respect to the Posse-Comitatus Act regarding state and local jurisdiction, sovereignty, [and] authority, and [their] control over the National Guard. We are opposed to destroying Constitutional checks and balances, destroying our Bill of Rights, or granting unconstitutional authority to the Executive Branch, under the guise and pretense of offering greater national security.
12. U.S. SOVEREIGNTY
[1st subsection]
Sovereign America
[1st paragraph of 1st subsection]
We maintain that true sovereignty lies in the people themselves[
,] as the ultimate source and grantor of government authority. We recognize the states and the people[, not Congress,] as the true sovereigns over the federal government [(an agent of the states)], holding all powers, rights, and authorities not granted to the federal government by the Constitution. The 10th Amendment mandates that the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of government are subservient to the states and to the people.[insert new 2nd paragraph of 1st subsection]
We say with Abraham Lincoln: "We the people are the rightful masters of Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution."
[Old 2nd paragraph, new 3rd paragraph of 1st subsection]
We [
recognize] affirm that the Constitution for the United States [as] is the supreme[and only law over our] law of the land. We assert that the United States is, and [will] must remain, a free and independent nation not subject to [no] international laws or treaties inconsistent with, or that would usurp, the U.S. Constitution.[2nd subsection]
International Relations
[2nd paragraph of 2nd subsection]
We oppose all international trade agreements which diminish America's economic self-sufficiency, sovereignty, [
or] independence, or [exports] exportation of our jobs. We support the withdrawal of funding and support of the United States from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the repeal of Fast Track authority given to the President.[insert new 3rd paragraph of 2nd subsection]
We also oppose the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), the Free Trade Area of The Americas (FTAA), and any and all other trade agreements that are detrimental to the sovereignty and borders of the 50 union states.
[3rd subsection]
Global Government
[1st paragraph of 3rd subsection]
We reaffirm to the world our declaration of permanent independence and sovereignty as a free nation, and our unalterable opposition to the current movement toward a one world government, [
or] New World Order or Globalization. We assert that the [casualties] consequences of implementing the New World Order or Globalization will be the loss of our national sovereignty and independence, the permanent surrender of our God-given rights and freedoms, the end of personal sovereignty and agency, and a life of slavery and oppression under tyrants and despots.[2nd paragraph of 3rd subsection]
We favor the immediate withdrawal of the [
U.S.] United States from the [U.N.] United Nations, and the immediate removal of all [U.N. influence] United Nations presence from the [U.S.] United States. We oppose participation in a global army, global taxation, international criminal courts, and all forms of tyranny, foreign or domestic.
