Prayer Alert

May, 2005

The month of May brings us two opportunities for giving thanks to God for the blessings of Freedom and our choice heritage.

The 3rd Saturday in May, May 21st, is Armed Forces Day which focuses our attention on those now serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.

The last Monday in May, May 30th, is Memorial Day, a day for remembering our honored dead, both military and civilian.    Memorial Day was begun as a day to honor Civil War dead, and after World War One was extended to the dead of all American wars.    It is now the custom to honor all of our dead on Memorial Day.

During the third and fourth weekends in May we now request all in America to set aside a time to offer prayer for our members in the Armed Forces and those who have been injured or died in defense of our Freedom.    We also ask that thanks to a loving God be given for the blessings of Freedom, the Spirit of Freedom that is sweeping our nation,  and for those who have or will preserve it for us and our posterity.

It is altogether proper and right to acknowledge and give thanks for God's help and blessing as the the events and battles of this year have demonstrated.    A host of positive happenings, some approaching the miraculous, have occurred already this year.   I will list a few of those that come readily to mind:

1.The two Senate votes in April, one defeating the AgJobs Amendment to the Iraq Spending Bill, and the other authorizing funding for 4,000 additional agents for the Immigration Service.

2.The Office of Legal Counsel of the United States Department of Justice clarifying the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States as the right of individual citizens to keep and bear arms.

3.Eleven states are considering or have passed resolutions against the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas), CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement), or free trade agreements in general.

4.“Jane Roe”, the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, has petitioned the Supreme Court to reverse its decision legalizing abortion on demand.

There are two pending threats to our sovereignty and one opportunity to regain sovereignty that has already been lost.   CAFTA may be voted on sometime in May or early June, and is a precursor to the FTAA, both of which must be defeated.     Congress also has the opportunity to withdraw the United States from membership in the WTO (World Trade Organization), which must be done.

As you give thanks for our progress this year, please ask for the following blessings upon our nation:

1.That Congress will stand firm and not approve any new free trade agreements.

2.That Congress will withdraw the United States from the World Trade Organization.

3.That the forces of Freedom in our nation will be strengthened and unified in preserving that Freedom.

4.That the organizations and individuals which are attacking Freedom will lose their financial and media support, become disorganized in their plans, and be ineffective in their actions.

A nation at prayer can hold the forces of totalitarianism at bay while the Freedom strength of our nation grows and matures.   Please join us these two weekends as we give thanks to a kind Father and ask for His blessing upon our nation.  Let's make prayer and thanksgiving a regular part of the Freedom battle in which we are engaged.
